Publication Ethics

International Journal of Law (IJL)

The International Journal of Law (IJL) is committed to upholding the highest standards of ethical conduct in academic publishing. All parties involved in the publication process—including editors, reviewers, authors, and the publisher—must adhere to the ethical guidelines established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Duties of Authors

Authors submitting to IJL must:

  • Submit original and unpublished work that is not under review elsewhere.

  • Ensure that their work is free from plagiarism and properly references all sources using APA 7th Edition.

  • Clearly disclose any conflicts of interest or financial support related to the research.

  • Obtain necessary ethical approvals when conducting studies involving human subjects or sensitive data.

  • Promptly notify the editor if they discover any errors or inaccuracies after publication and cooperate in issuing corrections or retractions.

Duties of Editors

Editors of IJL are responsible for:

  • Making editorial decisions based on the academic merit of the manuscript and its relevance to the journal's scope.

  • Ensuring a fair and unbiased peer review process using a double-blind system.

  • Maintaining confidentiality of all submitted manuscripts and reviewer identities.

  • Investigating and addressing all ethical complaints or allegations of misconduct, including plagiarism, falsification, or authorship disputes.

Duties of Reviewers

Reviewers are expected to:

  • Conduct evaluations objectively and constructively, providing clear and evidence-based feedback.

  • Maintain the confidentiality of manuscripts and not use the content for personal advantage.

  • Report any suspected ethical issues, such as plagiarism or data manipulation.

  • Avoid reviewing manuscripts in which they have a conflict of interest with the author(s) or institution.

Duties of the Publisher

The publisher of IJL (Berkaho Village-Owned Enterprise) ensures that:

  • The journal follows best practices in editorial oversight, peer review, and open access publishing.

  • Archiving and accessibility of all published articles are guaranteed through a stable online platform.

  • Ethical standards are promoted and upheld through training, policy enforcement, and transparent procedures.

Misconduct and Retraction Policy

IJL will take appropriate actions if research misconduct is identified, including but not limited to:

  • Issuing expressions of concern, corrections, or retractions.

  • Informing authors’ affiliated institutions or funding bodies in serious cases.

  • Banning future submissions from authors who commit repeated or serious violations.

Ethical Statement

By submitting to IJL, authors affirm that their manuscript complies with these ethical standards and consent to its publication under the journal’s policies.
