Plagiarism Policy
International Journal of Law (IJL)
The International Journal of Law (IJL) upholds the highest standards of academic integrity and strictly prohibits any form of plagiarism. Authors submitting manuscripts to IJL must ensure that their work is entirely original and properly cites the work and ideas of others.
Definition of Plagiarism
Plagiarism includes, but is not limited to:
-
Copying text, data, figures, or ideas from previously published works without proper citation.
-
Submitting someone else’s work, in whole or in part, as one’s own.
-
Paraphrasing substantial portions of another author’s work without adequate acknowledgment.
-
Self-plagiarism: Republishing one's previously submitted or published content without citation or justification.
Plagiarism Detection
All submitted manuscripts are screened using plagiarism detection software (e.g., Turnitin, iThenticate) before entering the peer-review process.
-
Manuscripts with a similarity index exceeding 20% (excluding references) will be rejected or returned to the author for revision.
-
Direct copying without proper attribution—even in small amounts—will result in automatic rejection.
Editorial Action in Case of Plagiarism
If plagiarism is detected at any stage (submission, review, or after publication), the editorial team will:
-
Notify the corresponding author and request an explanation.
-
Request immediate correction or revision of the manuscript, if applicable.
-
Reject the manuscript if plagiarism is confirmed.
-
In serious or repeated cases, notify the author’s affiliated institution and/or publish a formal retraction of the article (if already published).
Author Responsibilities
-
Ensure all sources are properly cited using APA 7th Edition referencing.
-
Submit only original manuscripts that have not been published or under consideration elsewhere.
-
Disclose any content overlap with previously published or submitted work.
Commitment to Publication Ethics
IJL adheres to the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines and is committed to promoting responsible academic publishing practices.
