Edukasi SMART USE dan SMART LIFE Sebagai Upaya Penggunaan Gawai Secara Bijak Pada Siswa SD 3 Puyoh

Abstract

The use of digital devices among elementary school students is becoming increasingly widespread, yet this trend has not been fully matched by an understanding of safe, healthy, and responsible usage. This community service activity aimed to enhance the knowledge, understanding, and awareness of 5th and 6th-grade students at SD 3 Puyoh regarding the wise use of digital devices through the “SMART USE, SMART LIFE” program. Twenty-two students participated in the activity, which employed a community education method utilizing an educational and participatory approach comprising preparation, implementation, evaluation, and reflection stages. The material was structured around the five SMART principles (Safe, Mindful, Appropriate, Respectful, and Think). Evaluation was conducted via oral questioning based on four indicators of understanding. Evaluation results indicated that the majority of participants were able to explain the benefits and negative impacts of device usage, understood the five SMART principles, and demonstrated a commitment to limiting device usage while increasing non-digital activities. These achievements indicate that the understanding indicators established for the activity were met. The “SMART USE, SMART LIFE” program fosters improved student understanding and awareness regarding safe, healthy, and responsible device usage and holds the potential for sustainable development through the guidance of parents and teachers.
